Celebrate and Save for Your Anniversary!

Blog | March 8th, 2012

For the happily married people out there, you know that there are few days of the year that are more special than your wedding anniversary. It’s a special day that you spend with your significant other and celebrate the meaningful relationship that you have together. Do you have a plan for how you’ll be celebrating this year? Are you going to go on an elaborate trip or vacation? While these are fun ideas, you don’t need to do something extravagant and expensive to celebrate your relationship. There are a bunch of fun things that you can do that won’t put a major dent in your bank account!

One of the most popular things to do on an anniversary is go out to dinner. When you are trying to find a place to go, take a look at menus and prices before you go. That way you can plan out how much you are going to spend and pick a place within your budget. Before you go to the restaurant, you can go to the store and pick out your favorite bottle of wine. Corkage fees at restaurants are often cheaper than buying a bottle of wine. Some restaurants don’t even charge you a corkage fee! If your time is flexible, try going to a restaurant a little earlier in the evening. Many restaurants have early bird specials and happy hours that will save you a little bit of money on your special evening out.

You can also have a great time by skipping the restaurant meal and having an excellent evening at home! Pretty much anything you cook at home will be cheaper than a restaurant meal and you can be sure it will be good because you will make it! You are also in control of the ambiance around the house. You can get some candles or flowers and set a romantic mood that will make the night even more special. If you have a garden or flower patch near your house, you can pick your own flowers and use them to decorate. You can truly make this a memorable night and save at the same time.

If you are looking to get out of the house, there are ways that you can save on a night on the town.  If you live near a lively downtown, stay at the local hotel and have a little vacation in familiar surroundings. If you want to get out of town, consider taking a road trip across the state to a fun place you’ve never been before. You will save on a flight and still be in a comfortable environment. You can make it into a fun vacation for the weekend or however long that you want to be gone!

Making your anniversary special is an important thing to do each and every year. Showing your significant other that you care and making the day important will do wonders for your marriage and help to keep the fires burning. The best part is that you can do it without spending a bunch of money. Just be creative and, as long as there is love, you will have a great time. What did you do for your anniversary?
