Fashionable Ways to Reuse Old Clothes

If you love shopping for new clothes, then your closet is probably teeming with tons of old clothes lying around collecting dust. Instead of just throwing them away, you can recycle them and put them to good use! Even though all your old clothes might be out of style, a little old or not in the best of shape anymore, you can turn them into fashion statements that you’ll love to wear daily! So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and check out these fun and easy ways to reuse your old clothes.

Shopping Bag

In some states around the country, plastic bags are banned because of how much land, air and water pollution they cause. So instead of using these non-biodegradable bags, convert your old T-shirts into a stylish market tote that you can carry with you whenever you are shopping at the supermarket or the local department store. To get started, take an old T-shirt and cut out a bag shape you like. Sew the bottom and sides with a stitch or a narrow zigzag. You may do it manually or using a sewing machine. Then, cut small slits into the body of the bag. After, make a huge cut into the upper side of the bag for the handle and shape the sides if you like. Lastly, stretch the bag and there you have it. Stylish Bracelets

Most women can never have enough bracelets in their life. Luckily, there are many great ways you can make your own bracelets without spending too much money. All you need are some old tees and bangles you no longer use, and an open and creative mind. To create these stylish wrapped bracelets, cut T-shirts in half or one-inch wide strips. The width may depend on the thickness of the bangles. Start wrapping the fabric tightly around the bracelet. When you’re done, knot both ends together to close. To make the final touch, trim the ends with scissors. With these basic steps, you can turn an old tee and bracelet into a fabulous and elegant fashion statement.

DIY Necklaces

If you love wearing necklaces, then this tip is for you! Making your own necklace is super easy and can be created with just a few materials. All you need is some old clothes, a small needle and thread and scissors. To begin, start by cutting the body of the article of clothing into horizontal strips approximately ¾ of an inch long. From here, you can braid the pieces of fabric together. To secure the braid or twist, make small stitches throughout the last row. Then to complete the necklace, sew the loose ends to the other side of the braid. Voila! You have your very own unique handmade necklace!
