It’s Back To Homeschool: All The Supplies You NEED for This Fall

Blog | August 21st, 2020

The year 2020 begins a school year like no other. School closings for a snow day or two brought such excitement as kids spotted their school district strolling across the television screen! But now, believe it or not, kids, as well as adults, are realizing the true meaning of the phrase “you don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone.” As it looks right now, many won’t be having school in the once familiar building that put butterflies of anticipation in place.

The lists of school supplies that send parents by the droves to fill up the aisles of Walmart and Target won’t be necessary. Until normalcy returns, what supplies will you actually need while once again, doing school at home?

Well, supplies will range greatly depending upon the age and grade of the child. Start by looking at their classes and making a bare-bones list of supplies. This will keep you from wasting time and money. You can always add items as needed. Here is a range of essentials to get you started to what can be a great start to learning 2020!

The Usual

Writing Utensils

Pens and pencils are an essential item for any school day! Stock up now and have plenty when school resumes.

Paper

These days students will need two kinds of paper. Notebook and multipurpose printer paper. One for taking notes, writing reports, and the other for all printing needs.

Notebook Organizer

The first step in good grades is being organized and this notebook/organizer will keep any student on track! Keep school work in one convenient place and easy to locate. When the school doors re-open, kids will be ready to pick it up and go!

Pencil Sharpener

What’s the point of an unsharpened pencil? Stay sharp and ready to roll with a fast sharpening electric pencil sharpener!

Dry Erase Board

Think of the first thing you see when you walk in a classroom. The giant chalk or dry erase board! These come in a variety of sizes and are perfect for working math problems, taking notes, or anything else temporary

Dry Erase Markers and Eraser

Some boards will come with one dry erase marker but chances are that won’t be enough. Having a variety of colors will come in handy as well. The eraser is an obvious necessity. Be stocked, never run out!

Glue Sticks

Glue sticks will be your child’s best friend for any project.

Crayons or Colored Pencils

Believe it or not, crayons are used from pre-k all the way to high school!

Ruler

Depending on your child’s grade, they could need anything from a simple ruler to a protractor or triangle. This set will get your child through no matter what they’re measuring!

The Unusual

Computer

An investment worth making. Schools usually have them for sharing. By having their own personal computer there will be no wait time and it will be totally theirs to use when needed. There will come a day in the not far off future when students will need one anyway. This way they will already have it. There are as many different computer needs as there are computers. check out Amazon to choose one to meet your child’s requirements.

Earphones

Serving two purposes, earphones will help students hear with clarity while also blocking noise and distractions from the outside. A.k.a. dogs, doorbells, little siblings, and other at-home attention grabbers.

Printer

A printer is an item your whole family will use, from printing school papers to grocery lists! A must-have in any home especially where there’s a homeschooler!

Desk

After school homework can happen at the coffee table, bed, or kitchen table. But when it’s a full school day students need their own desk space! Keep the sanity by keeping their work intact and where they left it. Having to clear off the kitchen table and setting it back up daily can be chaos!

Chair

Being comfortable will help concentration immensely! Homeschooling may be temporary but having a desk and chair can foster a successful learning environment for your child.

Whatever your situation is, stay strong, stay safe, and make homeschool memories that will last a lifetime!
