Keeping Your Child’s Birthday Party Cost-Effective and Fun!

Get a cost-effective birthday party for your kids!

One of the best times of the year for parents is their children’s birthday. It’s a special day that deserves a celebration. However, throwing a birthday party can be very expensive. Between finding a location, feeding guests, decorations, party favors and everything else there are a lot of things that could drive the price up.  Fortunately, we have some tips for you that will help you save money on your event and still have a great time.

First of all, think about the guest list before you plan anything else. Try to limit it only to your child’s best friends so that you can save on food and supplies.  For younger children, decide beforehand if you want the other children to bring presents or not. Some parent groups make an agreement not to buy each other presents until they reach a certain age, saving money in the long and short run.

Now that you have a guest list, it’s time to choose a location for the event, which can be pricey depending on what you choose. While it would be fun to have a birthday at a local fun center or pizza place, having the party at home or at a local park or pool can be just as fun and much cheaper. This option will also allow you to have control of everything and keep everyone safe and happy.

When purchasing for the festivities, there are items that you can save money on and still provide an awesome time. Party favors and decorations are fun at the time but will probably be thrown out. You can keep some extra cash in your pocket by ditching the favors and making your own inexpensive decorations. You can also plan fun free games and activities for the children to keep them occupied and active.

Finally, and most importantly, food is an area with an easy, low-priced solution. Instead of buying an expensive cake or snacks from the store, make your own. Kids love cheap treats such as cupcakes, celery with peanut butter or pigs in a blanket that are economical, easy to make and filling. If you need suggestions, just ask your kids. They know what they want and it will help them be involved in the planning; it is their birthday after all.

Birthday parties can get expensive if you aren’t careful but they don’t have to be. Just be creative about it. By taking the proper steps and putting some thought into it, you can put on a great, cost-effective get-together that everyone will enjoy.
