Ten Great Ways You Can Save On Your Grocery Bill

Blog | October 24th, 2011

5. Use a basket instead of a cart to hold your items

Need an easy way to buy less at the supermarket? Just limit what you can hold! By using a basket instead of cart, you will only buy what you can carry instead of filling up a cart with things that you don’t need.

4. Pay in cash

Before you take your shopping trip, decide what the most you want to spend is. Then, go to an ATM, take the cash out and only spend what you have in hand. This way, you are predetermining your spending and if you have a little left over, you can be proud of your new thrifty self!

3. Bring a calculator with you

A calculator is a very handy tool to take the market. First, it helps you keep track of what you have purchased and about how much you have spent. Second, you can use it to calculate whether buying more or less of a product will save you money by checking the unit prices on the price sticker.

2. Use less paper and plastic commodities

Eliminating paper and plastic goods is a great way to not only save but also be green. Instead of buying bottled water, invest in a water filtration system. Instead of paper towels, use hand towels to clean up messes. Think of what products you use and how things you already have can replace them.

1. Buy some things wholesale

Sometimes shopping at warehouse store isn’t so bad. If you have a big family or you need a lot of a certain product, buy it in bulk. It will last you for a while and it is usually cheaper. While some places do require a membership, there are other places that are free to everyone.

Keep in mind; these aren’t the only ways that you can save on grocery bill. There are many ways that you can cut corners and find low-priced alternatives to your favorite products. If you have any great ideas, post them in the comments below.
