New Year, New You? Restaurants Are Making It Easier With New Menus

If you’re one of the millions of Americans trying to prioritize protein in 2025 (and honestly, who isn’t?), your favorite chains just made things a whole lot easier. With the rise of GLP-1 medications (which can cause muscle loss if you’re not careful about protein), protein is having a major moment—and restaurants are finally paying attention. Whatever your reasons for keeping an eye on your protein intake, major restaurants are rolling out menus that actually help you stick to your goals without feeling like you’re sacrificing flavor or fun.

Chipotle Goes All-In on Protein

First up, Chipotle’s launching something pretty genius: their first-ever High Protein Menu. We’re talking items ranging from 15 to 81 grams of protein per serving.

Here’s what’s really catching people’s attention: the High Protein Cup. It’s basically 4 ounces of their Adobo Chicken or steak for around $4, and honestly? It’s the kind of snack that actually keeps you full. No more grabbing a sad protein bar from the vending machine.

The menu also has everything from a Double High Protein Bowl (81g protein!) to GLP-1 friendly options like the High Protein-High Fiber Bowl and High Protein-Low Calorie Salad

Shake Shack Launches Good Fit Menu

Shake Shack recently just dropped their Good Fit Menu, and it’s way more thoughtful than you’d expect from a burger chain. We’re talking lettuce-wrapped burgers delivering high doses of protein, gluten-free options, and even vegetarian choices that don’t skimp on the good stuff.

The Double SmokeShack in a Lettuce Wrap delivers 52g of protein and only 5g of carbs. There’s also a Gluten-Free Double ShackBurger with 47g of protein for anyone who needs to avoid gluten but still wants that classic burger experience. And for my veggie friends? The Double Veggie Shack Lettuce Wrap brings 25g of protein with all those mushrooms, sweet potatoes, and quinoa.

Olive Garden Makes Portion Control Appealing

Now here’s something different. Olive Garden’s rolling out Lighter Portions across locations with full coverage expected by the end of January. You know how sometimes you want the Chicken Parmigiana without needing a nap afterwards? That’s exactly what this is.

The Lighter Portions menu is available Monday through Friday after 3PM and all day on weekends, featuring smaller versions of classics like Chicken Parmigiana, Lasagna Classico, Fettuccine Alfredo, and Five Cheese Ziti al Forno. It’s the same dishes you love, just right-sized for people who don’t want massive portions or are watching their intake (hello, GLP-1 users). Plus, smaller portions means smaller prices.

Don’t Forget the Drinks

And if you’re looking for protein on-the-go? Smoothie King launched their GLP-1 Support Menu back in 2024, making them the first major chain to really lean into this trend. Their smoothies pack 20+ grams of protein with zero added sugar.

Starbucks jumped in last September with Protein Lattes and Protein Cold Foam that add anywhere from 15 to 36 grams of protein to your coffee order. Because why shouldn’t your morning latte work a little harder for you?

Restaurants are finally catching up to how people actually want to eat. Whether you’re tracking macros, on GLP-1 medications, or just trying to make smarter choices without sacrificing flavor, there’s never been a better time to find options that actually work for your goals.
