There is one event in the United States that gets people more fired up than anything else. It is watched by seventy percent of the country and makes more money selling commercials than some countries have. We are, of course, talking about the Super Bowl. It’s a fun day of the year when many people put together parties to be with their friends, eat a bunch of food, partake in a few adult beverages and watch some football. If you have had one of these parties then you know how expensive they can end up being. The good news is that there are ways to get around it. We have a bunch of tips for you that will allow you to save a couple dollars on your party and still provide your friends and family with a great time.

The first thing you need to think about for your gathering is how you want it to be decorated. You don’t HAVE to have decorations for you party to be a success but they do help brighten up the mood. Consider the colors of the teams involved before you buy anything to make for a more special, lively atmosphere. When you actually do the shopping, consider going to a discount store or the local dollar store. They will have many sports decorations for incredibly low prices that will look great on the wall. You could also go without decorations and just let your house be on display.

Let’s talk about the food and drinks now. This is easily the biggest expense for your party; you can’t expect everyone to sit around for 4 hours without any food! One easy way to defer some of the expenses is to ask attendees to bring their own food and drinks to help donate to the party. This will also make it fun because your friends and family can contribute their favorite dish and share it with their friends. If you are more interested in making your own food for the party, consider your menu before you buy anything. You can choose to either cook a full meal or just have a bunch of snacks set out for people to munch on.

When you actually do go shopping, keep an eye out for the sales and see what you can get for the right prices. If you are buying chips and snacks, go ahead and buy the bulk, generic bag. Your guests probably won’t care too much about the chips you buy and they’ll be much cheaper than the more expensive, brand name items. If you are thinking about buying disposable plates and silverware, reconsider. Use plates and flatware that you already have. Sure, it will be a bit more work in the end but you will produce less trash and save some cash.

Finally, it wouldn’t be a Super Bowl bash if you didn’t have some adult beverages involved. An easy way to save some money is to tell your friends to bring their own beer. It’s more than fair if you are already making all the food. If you want, you should consider getting a keg. Just like the chips, buying beer in bulk allows you to get the most for your money. If you do decide to go with bottles and cans, you can always recycle them and make a little money after the party is over.

There are many ways to have an awesome Super Bowl party without completely overspending. Just use a little creativity and you will be able celebrate the biggest game of the season in style. If you have any ideas from your own past Super Bowl parties, feel free to leave them below.
