The Benefits of Gift Baskets and How They Are Made

Blog | October 27th, 2011

There are many times throughout the year when you need to get a gift for someone. Whether it’s for a birthday, holiday or just because, it can be difficult to come up with something original for everyone you know. But have you considered a gift basket? They are a great way to give a present to someone you care about. They are fun, artistic and, best of all, can be made inexpensively. There are many different approaches you can take to making them and we have a few ideas to get the creativity ball rolling.

For each basket you are making, choose a theme that fits the person you are giving it to. Make each basket unique and personal. Gift baskets are a great creative outlet and give you the opportunity to make each recipient feel special.

Once you come up with a theme, work out a budget and start brainstorming. Think of all the things that would be appropriate for the plan you chose, no matter what it is. When coming up with ideas, try to think of accessory items as well. The whole concept behind doing a gift basket is to give many smaller goodies instead of one large one. Feel free to include perishables too because everybody loves something good to snack on.

What else do you need to start making your gift basket? A basket of course! You can be creative with this; it doesn’t have to be a woven container. Feel free to decorate a box or if you have another festive package, use that. Think outside the basket and come up with something unique that your friends will love. Next, find a base to put in the container. You can use tissue paper, newspaper or any other fine paper to fill out the bottom; choose the thriftiest option for this. Now it’s time to go shopping and assemble.

Assembling your gift basket is easy but it’s going to take a bit of time. Arrange the items from biggest to smallest, putting the biggest gifts in the back. Make sure breakables are secured or wrapped to prevent them from breaking. Try to spread everything out so that the receiver can see all the great goodies that you got them. If you would like, you can also hide one of the presents under the rest for a pleasant surprise!

After you have all the items arranged, secure everything with cellophane and a decorative bow. This gives it a great, complete look that will bring joy to whomever you give it to.

Gift baskets are a great present idea that everyone can enjoy. Give it a try and make your own today. You might be surprised by the reactions you get. If you have done gift baskets in the past or have any questions for the community, leave a comment below.
