Every year, cell phones become more and more intertwined in
our daily lives. The attachment comes with a price, though. Cell phone carriers
understand that you can’t live without your phone, which gives them a certain
amount of latitude when it comes to how they bill you on a monthly
By design, cell phone contracts, plans, and prices are
confusing. Costs are hidden. Who really understands what constitutes a gigabyte
of data usage? I sure don’t. It’s tough to quantify, and that
leads to confusion on your part, which leads to overages and more money for the
cell phone companies.
On top of the confusing cost structure, there are hundreds
of options for you to choose from. Do you go with a big carrier like Verizon or
AT&T? Or a second-tier company like Boost Mobile or Cricket Wireless?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but I’ve done some research and found the
plan that I think offers the best wireless coverage, data plan, phone
selection, and price.
And the winner is…
Mobile Data Boost 1GB
Monthly bill: $35
I like this plan because it covers the essentials – talk,
text, and email – at a very reasonable price. This plan is not for heavy data
users, but I have a sneaking suspicion that most of you don’t use an exorbitant
amount of data. If, however, you happen to have a data-heavy month, your speeds will
simply slow down once you reach your limit, and you won’t be charged any extra
Another huge bonus from Boost Mobile is that the iPhone 6 is $100 cheaper
than it is at other carriers. This is a nice added incentive offered by Boost
Mobile, and it’s another reason to join their team. If you already have a phone, you
can bring it with you when you transfer, as long as it’s a Sprint phone.
There are so many cell phone companies and plans to choose
from, but the key for me is to not get caught up in adding extra features and
services that you don’t absolutely need. This will go a long way in helping you keep your monthly cost down.
