Because of her disability, Saule's parents believed their little girl was cursed, ultimately abandoning her. But thankfully, one woman knew Saule this was not the case, she was simply special. 

This woman, Victoria, befriended 10-year-old Saule while visiting an orphanage in Kazakhstan. Eventually, she raised enough money to fly Saule and her foster family to the states. 

It was here that Saule was able to have her birth defects treated, something that her foster family never would have been able to afford on their own.
