Doctors Were Convinced She Would Never Walk or Talk, But Her Parents Refused To Let That Happen

Sarah Jane was just days old when she suffered from two broken collar bones, four broken ribs and a brain injury that left her with permanent brain damage. All of these terrible injuries were caused from her baby nurse, who violently shook Sarah Jane when she only was five days old.

Doctors thought she would never be able to walk or talk, but her parents refused to let that happen. Her father, Patrick Donohue, couldn't find a school that would help a young girl with her type of brain injuries, so he created his own. 

The Academy of Hope was established to help educate children with permanent brain damage similar to Sarah Jane's. This incredible story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Patrick is truly an angel for these children.
