He’s Performed Hundreds of Songs, But Blake Shelton Can’t Make it Through This One Without Tearing Up

Description

Blake Shelton is used to performing in front of sold-out
crowds. He’s no stranger to the stage, but when it comes to this one song he
just can’t bring himself to sing it.

When Blake Shelton was just 14-years-old his brother, Richie
Shelton, died in a tragic car accident. It’s something that he’s never really
opened up about before. Until one night him and his wife, Miranda Lambert, were
watching TV and landed on his ‘Backstory’ episode on GAC-TV.

In the episode they were talking about the death of Richie
and his father said, “You don’t ever get over something like that. You just get
used to it.”

As soon as they saw that, they turned off the television and
began talking, then writing and crying. That’s how the song ‘Over You’ was
created.

Since the song hits so close to home for Shelton, he
couldn’t bring himself to put on his record. There’s no way he would be able to
sing that song night after night. So, Miranda put it on her album,  ‘Four the Record’.

This video is of them performing this heart-wrenching song
on The Voice, the singing competition show Shelton is a judge on.

This performance gave me chills. What did you think of this
emotional song?
