On September 4th, 2014, the pioneer female comedian, Joan Rivers, passed away at 81 years old. She was undergoing surgery on her vocal chords at a New York City clinic on August 28th, when she stopped breathing and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital. Her daughter, Melissa Rivers, announced her passing immediately after pulling the plug of her life support. 

Joan Rivers loved making people laugh and was loved for the joy she brought into homes nationwide. "If you laugh at something, you shrink the dragon," she said. 

Joan Rivers will be missed, but never forgotten.
