I Couldn’t Believe She Gave up First Place to Do THIS

Description

Melanie Bailey
was set to finish in first place in her cross-country competition when she came
across a competitor. The girl was unable to walk, crying and in a lot of pain
from a knee injury.

Melanie didn’t think twice about what to do, she
immediately pulled the girl onto her back and carried her to the aid station.
The other runners passed them by not once stopping to help. Melanie finished
eight minutes after the first place runner and had her worst time to date but
none of that mattered to her. She said that she wouldn’t have felt right about
winning knowing she had passed someone in pain that needed help, it wouldn’t
have been fair. She says that although she didn’t get a medal for the race, she
got a different kind of medal and a new friend.
