When Dawn started losing her sense of hearing it quickly became very hard for her to communicate with others. The problem progressed and eventually, she lost complete speech recognition, taking hearing aids away as an option.

Over 15 years of living in total silence, Dawn has learned to communicate by reading lips, but has found it almost impossible to follow a conversation. 

Thanks to the advancement of medical technology, Dawn recently became a candidate for a new hearing implant! Although the thought of being able to hear again was extremely overwhelming and even a bit scary, Dawn was convinced by her family to go through with the surgery. 

After not ever hearing her 8-year-old son's voice, we see witness Dawn hear him for the first time in this precious video!
